Kosher Guide to Tuscany and Florence Italy

Where to find kosher restaurants in Tuscany and Florence Italy.

Exploring Tuscany while keeping kosher is easier than you might think. Between impressive kosher wineries and some cute kosher restaurants in Florence, the region has what to offer. Here’s a look at what we discovered along the way.

Getting To Tuscany

Most travelers will choose to start their trip in one of Italy’s major cities, like Milan or Rome, because of their international airports. We started out in Milan (you can see our guide to Milan here) and drove South to Tuscany. Since the wineries in the area are in fairly rural areas it’s recommended you rent a car.

Some cool stops along the way:

Cinque Terre – breathtaking coastal views and colorful cliffside villages.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa – just as surreal in person as it looks in photos.

Cantina Giuliano: Food-Focused Winery & Restaurant

Our first stop was Cantina Giuliano, a small winery and kosher restaurant. Outdoor seating in the their open air Tuscan terrace made it special.

  • Menu: A meat-based menu featuring local dishes and fresh, seasonal ingredients.

  • Experiences: They offer pasta-making classes and even truffle hunts (both high on my list for next time).

  • Hospitality: The team helped us find a nearby place to stay and even arranged a kosher breakfast for the next

  • Good to Know: You can preorder kosher breakfast from them as well.

morning.

This winery feels very food-focused—perfect if you’re looking for a cozy, local dining experience alongside great kosher wine.

Terra di Seta: Vineyard & Tours

Next, we visited Terra di Seta, the second kosher winery in Tuscany.

  • Vineyard Experience: Unlike Cantina Giuliano, Terra di Seta has a vineyard onsite that you can tour, making it ideal if you want to get more hands-on with winemaking.

  • Wine & Setting: A more classic vineyard experience with a focus on the wine-making process itself.

Both wineries are worth visiting, and the contrast between them makes it fun to experience both.

Kosher in Florence

Florence itself also has a few kosher gems. Right by the city’s beautiful old synagogue, you’ll find:

  • Ruth’s – A dairy restaurant serving vegetarian and Mediterranean-inspired dishes.

  • Baghetto – A meat restaurant across the street from Ruth’s.

The convenience of having both right next to each other (both near the Chabad and Florence synagogue) makes it easy to plan a kosher meal around sightseeing.
